Nora McDonald (Joy Tanner) and her daughters Casey (Ashley Leggat) and Lizzie (Jordan Todosey) move to Venturi's house because Nora is married to George Venturi (John Ralston). Casey and Lizzie meet their stepbrothers, Derek (Michael Seater), Edwin (Daniel Magder) and Marti (Ariel Waller).
The main characters are these:
-George Venturi and Nora McDonald: George Venturi's Derek, Edwin and Marti's father, and Casey and Lizzie's stepfather; and Nora is Casey and Lizzie's mother, and Derek, Edwin and Marti's stepmother. George is an advocate and Nora is a housewife.
-Derek Venturi: George's older son. He's fifteen years old. He's a bad student, but he's the most popular teenager of his Secondary School. He's the capitain of his hockey team, and the landlord of his music band, D-Rock, but his favourite hobby's annoy his stepsister Casey.
-Casey McDonald: Nora's older daughter. She's fifteen years old. She's an excelent student, but she's a bad sportswoman. She and his stepbrother Derek have got a bad relationship: They fight all days, but basically get along.
-Edwin Venturi: George's middle son. He and Lizzie have a good relationship.
-Lizzie McDonald: Nora's younger daughter. She's seven years old. She plays football and hockey, and has a good relationship with Edwin.
-Marti Venturi: George's younger daughter. She's shy, naughty, kind and funny. She likes play games and play with the chemical products.

-Emily (Shadia Simmons): Casey's best friend and Derek's girlfriend.
-Sam (Kit Weiman): Derek's best friend and Casey's ex-boyfriend.
-Max (Robbie Amell): Casey's ex-boyfriend.
